Bad Cosmetic Surgery Patients Tell Their Story

Cosmetic surgery is a thriving industry and a strong one at that with millions of men and women seeking to find physical improvement – or even perfection. However, the sad fact is that there are a number of patients who get the ugly side of the deal as they end up with very poor outcome.  And with that, some patients are brave enough to come out and share their ordeal.

In the UK a new TV show called Botched Bodies was created in order for those bad cosmetic surgery victims to share their stories. The documentary team researched and tried to get patients who have such an experience to tell their story in order to educate or warn others who are still planning on getting cosmetic surgery.

The show not only features women, but also men who were into surgical cosmetic enhancements. These individuals are most likely tempted to settle on low cost cosmetic surgeries which had them settling for poor results or even tragic outcome.

These patients either have botched breast implants, a bad hair transplant or a poorly executed facial cosmetic surgery.

The American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AFFPRS) president, Dr. Shan Barker said, “Recent reports of cosmetic surgeries gone awry and wrongful deaths proves that the choice for undergoing facial cosmetic surgery should be taken seriously.

A lot of people are not able to grasp the seriousness of the situation and how it can affect them, either temporarily or permanently.

Dr. Bradley Hubbard even shared that, “There are a lot of patient who don’t understand the risks of cheap cosmetic surgery because they are blinded by the prospect of cheap fees.”’

This means that one should never undermine their safety in order to save some dollars. Although we are living in financially challenging times, the solution for this cosmetic surgery dilemma is not to find cheaper service but to actually look for those that is worth the money you spend.

In the US, plastic surgeons are alarmed that there is a large number of people who seek corrective surgery due to botched initial procedures. Doctors also suggest that patients should know the guidelines in choosing the best and dependable cosmetic surgeon for their procedure of choice. Adding to that, it is also very important that a surgeon specializes on the procedure, because only those who are well versed on the delicate course of action can provide safe and top quality results.

Dr. Nick Percival, who treated one of the patients in the show said, “People always assume they will be in the 95 percent who don’t have problems, but the only people who are 100 percent safe are those who don’t have surgery.”

Hopefully with programs like this people will become more aware of the risks and careful planning involved with cosmetic surgery. Whether it may be a surgical operation such as a face lift or something less invasive like Botox, patients should see to it that this is performed by a trained, certified, experienced and specialized cosmetic surgeon.

Since we aren't always supposed to make all the mistakes ourselves, let us take a look at these people who was unfortunate with their decisions. These would serve as good bad examples, to help you become more proactive when it comes to being safety-conscious.
